Lance Stroll’s recent criticism of the Formula 1 regulations raises the question: Is he justified? The Aston Martin driver has been part of a growing chorus of voices questioning the current rules. We discussed this in the latest episode of GPblog’s F1 Paddock Update. The
FIA has recently introduced a series of regulation tweaks set to take effect from the
Miami Grand Prix. However, these changes have been met with widespread scepticism, with many believing the regulations remain fundamentally flawed. Stroll, along with
Max Verstappen, has echoed those concerns.

Stroll has made it clear that he does not see these updates as a “silver bullet” for the issues within the regulations. The Canadian compared the current rules to the “destruction of racing”, and his comments have also coincided with increasing discussions among drivers about interest in other racing series.
Alonso and Hamilton also weigh in on F1 regulation changes
Beyond Stroll’s criticism, his Aston Martin teammate
Fernando Alonso has largely echoed the view that the regulations are fundamentally flawed. The two-time world champion, who even took a cheeky dig at the current rules, said he does not expect significant change based on what he has seen in the simulator.
Meanwhile,
Lewis Hamilton offered a more measured response to the regulation changes. The Ferrari driver expressed doubts that the tweaks will resolve the core issues affecting the current ruleset. However, Hamilton stressed that the real test will come once teams hit the track for practice and qualifying during the Miami Grand Prix weekend.
