Max Verstappen has provided a fresh update on his Formula 1 future, as uncertainty continues to swirl amid his dissatisfaction with the current regulations. The Red Bull driver, who has never shied away from voicing his concerns about the sport’s rulebook, hinted at the Japanese Grand Prix that he could soon make a decision about how long he intends to remain in
F1. However, speaking again ahead of the
Miami Grand Prix, Verstappen confirmed that no final call has been made.
Speaking to GPblog, Verstappen said little had changed regarding his situation, stressing that he is still taking his time. “Nothing new, to be honest, on that side. I mean, in those weeks, I’ve also been busy with other things. But I still have time, and I’m taking my time.”
Talk of a potential early exit from Formula 1 has gathered pace in recent months, fuelled by Verstappen’s outspoken criticism of the current regulations, which he has previously described as “anti-racing”. Despite ongoing discussions with key stakeholders, the four-time world champion has made clear he still believes fundamental issues remain with the ruleset.
Heading into the Miami weekend, the
FIA introduced a series of tweaks aimed at improving the quality of racing. However, the changes have been met with scepticism from several drivers across the grid.
Verstappen delivers take on FIA tweaks
Earlier,
Verstappen aired his thoughts on the tweaks made by the FIA to the regulations ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. The Dutch driver, who has not held back on his perceived flaws of the regulations, highlighted what he considers to be the sole positive of the changes.
Verstappen, however, noted how the regulations remain far from what drivers desire, before admitting how complicated implementing such changes could prove.
