The FIA released a statement into the allegations that Ferrari were cheating during the 2019 Formula 1 season. Former McLaren mechanic gives his thoughts on the statement and wonders if it confirms they cheated.
Ferrari significantly improved after the summer break, winning several races. This caused the likes of Mercedes and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing to question what was going on.
An electrical cable along the FIA sensor made it possible for Ferrari to allow more gas to pass through, because the sensor was disrupted. Until now, however, this has remained with the claims made by the competition and the FIA's statement that this was not allowed, but Ferrari insisted that it had not used such a system despite the fact that the performance was falling.
However, the most recent investigation by the FIA showed that there was something wrong with the Ferrari engine, but the result of the investigation keeps the results secret. Both parties have reached a settlement, but the fact that this is going on does indicate that last year the rules were tampered with and perhaps Ferrari cheated.
