Toto Wolff has revealed that during the early discussions about F1: The Movie, Lewis Hamilton made a comment that didn’t impress Brad Pitt.
"Lewis said, ‘That’s not going to go; you’re much too old for a Formula 1 driver,’ and Brad was not impressed by it."

Wolff recalled a dinner at his home in Oxford, where he and his wife Susie hosted the F1 movie team. "There was one dinner that we organised with Joe, who is the director, and Jerry Bruckheimer, Lewis, Brad Pitt, Susie and I,” he said at the Autosport Business Exchange event in New York.
“Suddenly, the door opens and there’s Brad Pitt in the driveway, and he says, ‘Thank you for having me for dinner.’ So that was a bit of a surreal experience.”

Pitt "not impressed" by Hamilton's comment

According to Wolff, the project was still very much in its early development stages. "The initial concept was him being a driver and fighting for a world championship, and then Lewis said, ‘That’s not going to go; you’re much too old for a Formula 1 driver,’ and Brad was not impressed by it."
The script was then adjusted. Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, was rewritten as a veteran returning to help the struggling team APX GP, a storyline Wolff and Hamilton felt to be more realistic. "He felt that he was in his prime to be a Formula 1 driver. How they adapted the script was fantastic because it was credible. His role was credible," Wolff concluded.

Wolff went on to say that the film has been well-received within the F1 paddock. “We watched it with the drivers and team principals at the premiere in Monaco, and everyone thought it was good. It’s solid entertainment, and the revenues have been enormous,” the Mercedes team boss concluded.
The film since grossed over $627,000,000 worldwide in theatres, making it a record-breaking film for the American actor.
