Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has played down rumours that Daniel Ricciardo could make a sensational move to Mercedes at the end of the 2018 season. The Australian is out of contract with Red Bull at the end of the current season and Mercedes has been touted as a possible destination.
Despite winning already in 2018, it is regarded that Red Bull isn't the team to stay with due to their inability to truly fight for a world championship and with Mercedes and Ferrari both rumoured to be assessing Ricciardo for a potential 2019 drive, rumours have flown around about a possible move.
Wolff however has denied that there is a potential move for Ricciardo on the cards.
"At the moment we are not looking at drivers outside of Mercedes.
"First of all, we support our two guys. That is the priority. If you're happy with your wife, you don't look at other women.
"We are very happy with how Valtteri has been driving and we do not need to talk about Lewis. I think he's the best driver today.
"Then there are the young guys with us like Esteban Ocon and George (Russell). I'm optimistic about the future of Mercedes."
