Wolff celebrates 50th birthday: Will he bring another Mercedes world title?

It's party time at Toto Wolff's house on Wednesday, as the Austrian team boss celebrates his 50th birthday. Although he will celebrate the moment, his thoughts are already on the new season. Does he know how to win the world title with Mercedes again in 2022?

The team boss made the switch to Mercedes in 2013, after which he enjoyed a very successful period. Wolff won a series of world titles between 2014 and 2020 and proved capable of dominating Formula 1 with the German racing stable. Whereas Lewis Hamilton won six world titles, Nico Rosberg managed to beat his teammate in 2016.

Last season, however, Wolff faced competition from Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen. Mercedes failed to beat the Austrians, forcing them to relinquish a world title for the first time since 2013. Although Mercedes did manage to win the constructors' championship, the team had a sour taste in December.

With the new regulations, everything is different in 2022. It gives Mercedes the opportunity to once again create an advantage over Red Bull and other competitors. However, it is not an easy job for Wolff's team. He still has over two months to prepare for the new season, but not before blowing out fifty candles.
