Webber: 'These drivers have a great opportunity in 2021'

Former Formula One driver Mark Webber has given his take on what he believes will be the most intriguing aspects of this season in an outlook for the upcoming racing season, with the potential battle between Red Bull and Mercedes a highlight.

Webber, who as Sebastian Vettel's former team-mate will surely not have forgotten his time at Red Bull, argues that a battle between the two top teams could make this season a hugely interesting one.

He explained, in conversation with Rolex, the sponsor for which Webber is now an ambassador, and as quoted by Marca motor: "I really want to see if Red Bull can start the season strong and challenge Mercedes from the start. That would be fascinating,"

The Australian also foresees opportunities for the drivers who will appear on the grid for a new team this year. Webber points to Sainz and Perez as the main candidates: "Some very famous drivers have changed teams for 2021, such as Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren, Carlos Sainz at Ferrari or Sergio Pérez at Red Bull. They have an incredible opportunity this year."
