Mark Webber
Mark Webber is a former Formula 1 driver from Australia, best known for his time with Red Bull Racing. Today, he works as the manager of Oscar Piastri and as a commentator for Australian television. Webber is known for his outspoken views and his impressive career in both Formula 1 and endurance racing.
F1 career: from Minardi to Red Bull
Webber began his motorsport career in karting and progressed through Formula Ford and Formula 3 before reaching Formula 1. He made his debut with Minardi in 2002 and immediately impressed by scoring points in his very first race. His performances earned him a seat with Jaguar and later Williams. At Williams, he secured his first F1 podium but also suffered from misfortune.
In 2007, Webber joined Red Bull Racing, where he stayed until 2013. Initially paired with David Coulthard, he later had Sebastian Vettel as his teammate from 2009 onward. Their relationship was often tense, with the infamous “Multi-21” incident in Malaysia (2013) as the low point, when Vettel ignored team orders. Webber finished third in the world championship three times (2010, 2011, 2013) and claimed nine Grand Prix victories.
Rivalry and criticism
Webber had a reputation as an outspoken driver. He regularly criticized colleagues, including Romain Grosjean, whom he accused of reckless driving. Within Red Bull, he often faced challenges as the team favored Vettel, leading to frustration. In his 2010 book, Webber also revealed that he had concealed a shoulder injury that season from the team.
Success in the WEC with Porsche
After his Formula 1 career, Webber moved to the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with Porsche. In 2015, he won the world championship alongside Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley. He retired at the end of 2016, with several notable victories, including the iconic 6 Hours of Fuji.
Manager of Oscar Piastri
Following his racing career, Webber became a manager. He took Oscar Piastri under his wing and played a key role in his breakthrough into Formula 1. Thanks to Webber’s guidance, Piastri secured a seat at McLaren, where he developed into one of the most promising young drivers on the grid.
Famous for commentary and “the scream”
Webber is frequently heard as a commentator during Formula 1 broadcasts in Australia. One of his most famous moments came during the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, when he shouted loudly during the incident in which Lewis Hamilton ran straight on after the restart. His spontaneous reaction went viral among Formula 1 fans.

During his years at Red Bull Racing, Webber reportedly earned around $10 million per year. His time in the WEC also brought in millions. His total net worth is estimated between $10 million and $50 million. He now lives with his wife Ann Neal, who was also his former manager.
