Vettel gets advice: "From today's point of view: yes!"

Sebastian Vettel left his team Ferrari at the end of the 2020 season. The driver opted for a new adventure at Aston Martin, but that switch was not successful at all. Although DTM-boss Gerhard Berger thinks a year off would do Vettel good, he is confident about the upcoming races.
The Bahrain Grand Prix confronted Vettel directly with the new reality. The German driver finished in fifteenth place, just ahead of Mick Schumacher. The second race was also not exactly his best performance of his career. Vettel again finished fifteenth in the overall standings and again had to do without points.
Critics therefore argue that Vettel would do well to take a year off from Formula 1 and then return with a lot of energy. Berger too argues that a year of rest would be a good option for Vettel. "From today's point of view: yes!", he says in conversation with Sport Bild. "But the observation period is still too short. I wouldn't want to draw any conclusions after just two races."

Successes Vettel

Berger thinks Vettel can certainly still be of value to his team. "I know from my own experience: there comes a time when you are past your prime. You have to take this into account. But if you are a successful driver and continue to pursue the sport with all your experience and passion, it can certainly still lead to good successes."
