Max Verstappen's ex-chief mechanic, Lee Stevenson, received a promotion at Audi. Stevenson joined
Formula 1 early in his career, first working for the Jordan team from 2000 to 2006.
That year, he joined
Red Bull Racing, and worked his way up the ranks within the Austrian team. In 2021, he was appointed Support Team Chief Mechanic, and two years later, he was promoted to Race Team Chief Mechanic.
After spending 18 years with
Red Bull Racing,
Stevenson made the switch to join Sauber in 2024, which has now become
Audi for the 2026
Formula 1 campaign.
After working as Chief Mechanic since April 2024, Stevenson became the German team’s new Team Manager last week.

Team boss Jonathan Wheatley said: “This successful fire-up is a critical milestone that validates the quality of the work and collaboration across all departments. It energises the entire team and provides a clear focus as we prepare for the next phases of development, including the moment we first bring the car to track.
“This achievement brings our first race in Melbourne into sharp focus, and we will build on this foundation as one united team.”
