The Dutchman finished in second place in Zandvoort, crossing the finish line only behind Oscar Piastri
after Lando Norris' car failure.
The four-time world champion could therefore continue his podium streak at his home Grand Prix, as he finished in either first on second place since the track returned to the calendar in 2021.
The current doubleheader continues with the Italian Grand Prix. Looking ahead to the weekend, Verstappen talked about where his team needs to improve.

Verstappen sees room for improvement in this area
"Going on to Monza, it's a very fast circuit and it of course has a great history and passionate fans. As a team there are things we need to work to improve, including how we are managing the tyres," the Dutchman began in the Austrians' press release.
"It is about continuing performance from Qualifying through into the race and having the pace on the long runs, especially on this track.
"I enjoy the old school circuit and we will see what the week brings," the defending world champion concluded his verdict.
Verstappen teammate,
Yuki Tsunoda, could score his first points in Zandvoort since the Miami GP.
"I'm carrying that confidence into Monza, which definitely feels like a home race for me."
Living in Italy having previously competed for Racing Bulls, the Japanese driver has a surprise for his team.
"The Team have already been asking me for local recommendations, and I will be taking my crew for pizza before the race week kicks off.
"Monza is one of the classic circuits on the calendar, and it's one every driver looks forward to.
"We've been making progress race by race, and we'll keep pushing to improve the car and our performance, we hope to say goodbye to the European season in a positive way."
