Q3 did not the end the way Max Verstappen imagined. The Red Bull driver made a mistake on his final lap, and in the end, he missed out on finishing inside the Top 3 as well. After the first run in the final session of the day, Verstappen was in third place behind the two
McLaren drivers,
Lando Norris and
Oscar Piastri.
While the British driver could not improve on the final lap, Verstappen also did not manage to get close to the Woking-based team's cars.
Exiting the first corner on his second attempt Verstappen had a lot of wheelspin, putting him on the back foot.
This led to the Dutchman complaining over radio during Q3. "Oh my god! That was really, really bad! Just no grip to start the lap."
Verstappen will start from the fourth place on Sunday at the Belgian Grand Prix, as
Charles Leclerc manage to outqualify him as well.
