Verstappen doesn't forget Norris called him an 'idiot' in Monza

During a sim racing session, the Dutchman found himself in a tough spot surrounded by other cars, situation the prompted a fellow virtual racer and friend to call him an 'idiot'.

Verstappen quickly responded that the 'idiot' comment had been too quick to jump to arguing that such behaviour was not 'nice', and revealing he'd been called an 'idiot' too often recently.

At lights out, Norris had a good run on Verstappen, and taking the inside line, with the final stretch of the main straight at the iconinc Italian circuit narrowing, the Briton saw his McLaren go two wheels on the grass.

This situation prompted Norris to call Verstappen an idiot via the radio. “What's this idiot doing, come on! He's put me in the grass and then he's just cut the corner!”

Red Bull Racing's pitwall strategy engineers agreed that Verstappen had cut the corner, so they issued the instruction to the Dutchman to give th place back to Norris.

However, despite this, the McLaren driver could not run away and hide in the lead and take the win as Red Bull following Verstappen's curcial Saturday setup change turned out to be the rulers of Monza that Sunday afternoon.

Verstappen crossed the finish line over 19 seconds ahead of Norris, taking his third win in a season otherwise dominated by McLaren.
