Lance Stroll is perhaps one of the drivers on the grid under the most scrutiny. With his father's money, he is now at Aston Martin, but according to
Lawrence Stroll, that criticism is unjustified.
Criticism does nothing to Stroll
In 2017, Stroll made his Formula One debut at Williams. Despite titles in Italian Formula 4, the Toyota Racing Series and
Formula 3, people were sceptical about his debut. The Canadian received huge financial backing from his millionaire father, and that bag of cash was something
Williams could put to good use. Stroll's failure to beat Felipe Massa, Sergey Sirotkin and
Sergio Perez over the past four years did little to improve his reputation.
''There are a lot of jealous people in this world and jealous people who wish they were where Lance is. They do and say silly things. I don't pay much attention to that, and neither does Lande. I think Lance is extremely talented. I have no doubt that he has already shown it. If everything is the same as in Turkey, he will show that he can be on pole in the rain. There are not many who can do that,'' Lawrence told the
Independent.
The arrival of Vettel
In 2021, however, Stroll will face another formidable opponent in
Sebastian Vettel. The four-time world champion didn't exactly end up with the best results at
Ferrari, but of course he can still race very well. Stroll senior is very happy with the recruitment of this figurehead.
''This team has achieved a lot, but not yet become world champions, and Seb brings that experience with him. He is incredibly motivated to be part of Aston Martin's return to Formula 1. There were factors that slowed things down last year but I've no doubt he'll be as quick as he was before."
