During the first and only free practice session of the Miami Grand Prix, the McLaren team managed to surprise Lando Norris. The stewards now revealed their verdict on the incident.
The McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Norris were quick to get out on track in the only 60 minutes dedicated to testing at the Miami GP, however, the Briton had to return to the pit lane immediately.
Over the team radio, Norris reported that mechanics left multiple torches in his car, and was seen unpacking these tools in front of his garage on the broadcast.

The incident was noted by the stewards during the session, and an investigation followed. Because of Norris' quick reactions, the stewards handed out a 'warning to the competitor'.

“The Stewards determine that the incident qualifies as a car being released in an unsafe condition, but the driver realised the problem extremely quickly and reacted adequately to prevent an unsafe or dangerous situation. This is taken into account in mitigation,” the stewards' verdict reads.
