Oscar Piastri topped the one and only qualifying session of the 2025 Miami GP, with a 1:27.128. Charles Leclerc finished in second place, while 'father' Max Verstappen rounded off the Top 3.
Ahead of Sprint Qualifying, especially the teams with updates, such as Red Bull Racing, had to take advantage of the only 60 minutes of practice time they have at their disposable this Friday.
The session's results are not the most representative however, as thanks to Oliver Bearman causing a red flag during the final minutes, not every driver, including Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, could complete a lap on the soft tyres.

As it happened

Many drivers immediately went out on track, including championship-leader Oscar Piastri. Norris had to return to the pit lane immediately, after a mechanic left a torch in his car. The stewards also noted the incident.
After the first 20 minutes, even as Russell had a moment in Turns 14-15, but he led the session ahead of Norris and Verstappen on the medium tyres with a 1:28.0. Later on, Kimi Antonelli made that a one-two for the time being for Mercedes.
Isack Hadjar also had a moment in Turn 8, but the rookie driver in the Racing Bulls special livery manage to catch his car in time. Norris was also impeded by Esteban Ocon in the final corner, as the two drivers were not on the same page.
With 20 minutes to go, the Mercedes drivers still led the session, with now Carlos Sainz being in third position.
Driver began to fit the soft tyres entering the final ten minutes of the session. However, not everyone could complete a lap on this compound, after Oliver Bearman finished the session in the wall.
Afterwards, the session could not continue, as the day will continue with Sprint Qualifying later tonight.
