The sprint races gave the Formula 1 season a whole new dynamic at several circuits. Next season Formula One Management (FOM) wants to continue with the sprint races that determine the starting grid for the Grand Prix. According to Autosport.com, Zandvoort could be one of the places with such a sprint race.

Discussion

GPblog asked Jan Lammers, sporting director of the Dutch Grand Prix, whether the Dutch Grand Prix circuit could host a sprint race and this was his answer.
"It is being discussed, but has not been agreed," Lammers said. "Apparently we are a consideration. Should something indeed come out of this, then obviously the FIA, FOM or we will report it as soon as possible."

For Dutch race fans, a sprint race on Saturday would mean there would be even more to experience at Zandvoort. Lammers himself said: "It would be a nice twist."
"A sprint race immediately gives a lot of dynamics. The first training session matters immediately. A sprint race puts a lot of pressure on the teams, because you can't try things out first. You have to be on top of things right away That's the fun aspect of a sprint race."

Delegation in Saudi Arabia

Robert van Overdijk , CEO of Circuit Zandvoort, is currently in Saudi Arabia with a delegation. Undoubtedly the question of whether or not there will be a sprint race will be discussed with the FIA and FOM. It is reported that Formula 1 also wants to organize a sprint race at Imola, Canada, Austria and Brazil in 2022. This would mean that the venues of Silverstone and Monza would be dropped.
