Sergio Perez, like his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, is positive after the first day of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend. Perez finished the second free practice session with a second time, narrowly behind Charles Leclerc. The Red Bull Racing driver expects his team to be competitive at the Baku City Circuit.

Perez warns McLaren in Baku

"It was definitely a good a good solid day. I think there is some good basics, we made good progress from FP1 to FP2. We just have to make sure that we are able to progress from here. I think we can definitely be in the mix for tomorrow," Perez told F1TV after the session.
The Mexican says he feels more confident on the street circuit in Baku, where he managed to win twice in the past three years. "Yes, I think we are heading in the right direction. We're finding that we can put the car together a little bit more. And there's still a long way to go I think, but it's promising what we've seen so far," he continued.
"Yeah I think tomorrow anything can happen really so we just have to keep our head down and hopefully deliver a great couple of laps. Well we only need one really in Q3 so, anything can happen going to Q3," Perez concluded.
