Andreas Seidl went from team boss of McLaren to CEO of the Sauber Group. His new job now encompasses more than 'just' running the F1 team. The German sounds enthusiastic about the team's future.

Seidl has team on the ground

As CEO of the Sauber Group, Seidl is mainly concerned with Formula 1, although Sauber is not exclusively involved in the sport. Seidl has taken his time in the first six weeks at the new team to get to know everyone. Meanwhile, he has put together a team to run the Alfa Romeo-Sauber racing team. At the head is Alessandro Alunni Bravi with technical chief Xevi Pujolar and sporting director Beat Zehnder at his side.
We will see Seidl a lot less along the track in the coming season. On the Sauber Group website the CEO says: "I will attend a few races, but the foundations of success in F1 are laid at the factory and that’s where my immediate focus will be."

Audi offers stability for Sauber

2023 will be the sixth year of cooperation between Sauber and Alfa Romeo, but an end is in sight. In 2026, Sauber will team up with Audi, thus letting go not only of Alfa Romeo, but also of engine supplier Ferrari. Seidl is looking forward to the future, which seems to be smiling on the team.
"It’s very significant because it provides everyone at Sauber with stability and a clear direction of travel. As a Group we know that we have a great future ahead of us, at the same time all our focus is on the here and now, on performing short term in the coming season with Alfa Romeo and on continuing our successful partnership with Ferrari for the next three years."
