Esteban Ocon was unable to participate in qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix on Saturday night. The Frenchman collided hard with the wall in the third free practice session and was informed that his car would not be ready in time. Carlos Sainz sympathised with the driver afterwards.
The Spaniard did not have a flawless race weekend either. On the first day of the GP in Miami Sainz had to retire with almost the same incident. The Ferrari driver, therefore, stressed in conversation with Sky Sports that the FIA must do something to reduce the danger.
"I am sorry to be critical but yesterday I told the FIA that my crash in second gear didn't feel that hard but I had some pain in my neck today and I told them to put tecpro because it a hard wall and then Esteban crashed and I am sure he felt it too," Sainz said.

Sainz can look back on qualifying satisfied

He himself, however, was able to start qualifying. Where Charles Leclerc managed to secure pole position, Sainz secured a second starting position. To the press, he reacted satisfied with his performance which according to him was not easy to achieve.
