George Russell secured a third place finish at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. The Briton thus keeps his eyes on the second place in the world championship, for which he wants to go in the last six race weekends. In conversation with Express he also gives a big compliment to Max Verstappen.
"Red Bull and Max are doing an exceptional job," stated Russell after the weekend in Monza. "They are a long way ahead of everyone else. But I guess we want to be the highest points scoring team in the second half of the season. That has to be our target."

Russell hopes for blistering end to season

In the triple header, which took place immediately after the summer break, Russell did very well. He took fourth place in Belgium, followed by two podium finishes. In the Netherlands he took second place behind Verstappen, while last weekend he finished third.
Verstappen now has the world title up for grabs, but below that it will still be exciting. Charles Leclerc is on 219 points, while Sergio Perez and Russell have nine and sixteen points less respectively. Mercedes can also still grab the same position in the Constructors' Championship. Russell therefore confidently states: "Second in both championships is not far away."
