Russell shares latest on next contract: 'Needs to be done with care'

The British driver has yet to sign a contract extension with Mercedes, as his current one expires at the end of 2025.

In Singapore, when asked about the matter, Russell began: "No, no updates to give you. So I told you you'd be the first to know when there's something to report.

"And I think every time you renew a contract is the most important one of your life and it has to be done with good care. There's nothing to worry about and it will get done," he explained.

The driver was presented with that question as well. "No, I don't think so," he said.

"It's obviously different for certain drivers who may have a a bit more power, may have a bit less power. But yes, as I said, no more updates to report and I'll be glad to tell you all once there is," he concluded.

Over the summer break, GPblog could report that contract extensions for Russell and his teammate, Kimi Antonelli, appear to be nothing more than a formality.
