George Russell nearly completed a 'perfect' Formula 1 season, but the Monaco Grand Prix cost the British driver his 100% record. The British driver just missed out on completing the perfect Formula 1 season in terms of laps completed. Russell did 99.9% of the total laps 'only' in 2025.
That's 1442 laps out of 1444.
That is because of the Monaco Grand Prix. After a mechanical issue on Saturday in qualifying, the Mercedes driver was already on the back foot.
Being stuck behind the Williams cars for the majority of the race, Russell cut the Nouvelle Chicane to get past Alexander Albon. He received a drive-through penalty for the incident, which meant he finished two laps down the eventual winner, Lando Norris.
After the race, Russell joked that it would be Albon's turn to pick up the bill the next time they have dinner together as a result of Williams' strategy in Monte Carlo. In the end,
the Thai-British driver ended up doing just that.
At every other Grand Prix, Russell completed every lap possible the previous campaign.

Russell 'can't f****** wait' for 2026
Next year, the
F1 regulations will be completely overhauled with new chassis and power units as well.
The British driver is ready to battle for the drivers' title this upcoming campaign.
He also told GPblog in Abu Dhabi:
"Can't f****** wait, to be honest. I can't wait. "I'm glad this season is done and this era is over. It's been so tough for a lot of teams, very difficult to understand, but we've all got a clean slate next year and that's good."
