If Mercedes driver George Russell expected to find comfort in Red Bull Racing's CEO and team principal, Christian Horner, after a dismal F1 Monaco Grand Prix, he better not hold his breath.
Alexander Albon was driving his Williams as slow as he could to ensure teammate Carlos Sainz could build a large enough gap to do a free pitstop. At one point, Russell skipped the Nouvelle Chicane, kept his foot planted on the throttle and never looked back.

After the controversial manoeuvre, the Mercedes pitwall instructed Russell to give the place back to Albon, which the Briton declined to do. “I heard his radio where he said I'll take the penalty or whatever but then they gave him a drive-through,” Horner said to media like GPblog after the race before bursting into laughter.

That the Stewards severely punished Russell's actions came as no surprise to the Red Bull Racing team boss. “If he gained an advantage off track, of course, then they're gonna penalise [him],” Horner said.
In the end, the Mercedes driver stood by his decision to overtake Albon off the track as he would've finished further back than if he hadn't, which according to him highlighted a 'flaw in the system.'
