Following Max Verstappen's remarks after a P4 finish at the Monaco Grand Prix, former F1 champion Damon Hill shared his thoughts on the sarcasm that characterised the race in Monte-Carlo
The former world champion, present at Monte-Carlo for the race, posted a photo on his Instagram of a statement Verstappen said in conversation with media, including GPblog: "Very exciting. I was on the edge of my seat every lap, it was fantastic."

Verstappen really on the edge of his seat? Hill detects sarcasm

Upon reading the statement, Hill is inclined to think that the Dutch world champion's statement was not genuine: "I think he's being a bit sarcastic."

Hill also saw sarcasm elsewhere. According to Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, his Williams counterpart, James Vowles, apologised to him for the tactics he employed during the Monaco Grand Prix to ensure a double points finish for his drivers, Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz.
The former Sky Sports analyst seems to dobut the sincerity behind these statements as well.

"A lot of sarcasm in this race!", was Hill's conclusion on Instagram.
