Nico Rosberg appreciated Max Verstappen’s mindset in wanting to start the Belgian Grand Prix at the originally scheduled time, even though many considered the conditions undriveable due to poor visibility.
The formation lap of the Belgian Grand Prix began on schedule at 3:00 PM, but it quickly became clear that the track conditions were too wet to start the race safely.
In the end, the FIA chose to delay proceedings by an hour and twenty minutes before attempting to resume. After that, the cars completed four laps behind the safety car before the race got underway with a rolling start.
Nico Rosberg, reporting from Spa-Francorchamps for Sky Sports, noted that several drivers were unwilling to start at 3:00 PM. Ultimately, the FIA’s decision to delay the race for so long wasn’t without reason — the governing body primarily takes its cue from the drivers.
''You got drivers wanted to postpone the start, coming up with all kinds of stories that even behind the SC you can’t see anything, etc,'' the 2016 world champion said.

Rosberg appreciates Verstappen's mentality

Max Verstappen, on the other hand, was eager to start the race. The Dutchman is known for excelling in the rain. A proof of this is the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2024. In addition, Red Bull Racing had set up his car for the rain last weekend.
Rosberg appreciated the Dutchman's mentality: ''Then you had the craziest of them all, which is Max, saying: ‘I don’t care! I just want to go racing! I don’t even need to see where I’m going! I just need to go racing!'' the German laughed.
The Belgian Grand Prix was ultimately contested in nearly dry conditions, rendering Verstappen's wet-weather setup virtually ineffective. As a result, the Dutchman was unable to make progress during the race and had to settle for a fourth-place finish.
