Formula 1's tyre manufacturer, Pirelli, have revealed their tyre selection for the three rounds to follow after the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. In Monaco, new rules are also set to come in play, with two mandatory pit stops.

Softer compounds in Monaco compared to last year

In Monaco, unlike at every other weekend, there will be two mandatory pit stops required. Still, two compounds need to be used, similarly to every other event.
Pirelli will bring the three fastest tyres available, with the C6 being the soft tyre, the C5 being the medium tyres and the C4 will serve as the hards. The C6 will make its debut in F1 in Imola.
That choice is repeated for the Canadian Grand Prix as well. "In fact, while the low level of severity is the factor that makes it possible to go for a step softer than last year’s selection, in Montreal the high top speeds and significant longitudinal forces will make for a demanding test for this trio of compounds, as indeed will Imola," the tyre manufacturer write.

Three hardest compounds selected for Barcelona

Before the F1 grid flies over the Atlantic Ocean to Canada, the current tripleheader will have its last stop in Spain at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
There, Pirelli chose to go to the other end of the spectrum: with their three hardest compounds available. The C3 will serve as the soft tyres, the C2 will be the medium and the C1 will be the hard compound that weekend.
"The Barcelona-Catalunya track is one of the toughest of the year for tyres, because of its layout, with several very fast, long corners, and because of the high temperatures that typically lead to thermal degradation."
The tyre manufacturer also chose these compounds previously this season for the Bahrain and Japanese Grands Prix.
