Oscar Piastri has reflected on the key lessons he took from the 2025 season after missing out on the drivers’ title to teammate Lando Norris. “I’ve learned a lot about myself in those kinds of situations.”
- Oscar PiastriThe Australian admitted to having picked up what he deemed valuable lessons in relation to driving, particularly in adapting to different car conditions.
“There’ve definitely been lessons directly related to how I drive the car, how I can be better in different conditions, and just become a better all-around driver,” Piastri said after the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The
McLaren driver also spoke about the lessons learned off the track, particularly in handling adversity and the challenges that arise over the course of a season.

“There have also been lessons outside the car — dealing with adversity, dealing with difficult moments. I’ve learned a lot about myself in those kinds of situations. So, there have been lessons both in and out of the car that will definitely help me in the future,” he concluded.
The 2025 season unfolded for Piastri in what can be dubbed a tale of two halves. The 24-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal start to the campaign, racking up seven victories from the first 15 races.
However, Piastri would only manage three more podium finishes in the final nine races, which largely hampered his chances of winning the drivers’ championship.
