'Perez probably already knows he's not as fast as Verstappen'

The big news this week is of course the confirmation that Sergio Perez will be the team mate of Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing next year. A choice that many followers like Peter Windsor.

"Perez is a very fast Formula 1 driver," says Windsor in his vlog on Youtube. "Probably not as fast as Verstappen and he knows that before he starts. He's the kind of driver that Red Bull can always count on if Max has a problem. If Verstappen has a car he can win the race with, you can be sure that Perez will be third or second".

According to Windsor, the fact that Perez has been around for so long is not only advantageous when it comes to performance on the track, but it is also a mental advantage. Not least for himself. Perez's career seemed to be locked in the last few years. The fact that he is now being given this opportunity is therefore only good news, and that will remove some of the tension.

"He has nothing to prove, so he is the perfect driver alongside Max. I wouldn't say the number two, but I would say teammate. You don't have the problems of another young driver who wants to prove that he is as fast as Max or maybe even faster. Sergio knows what he is capable of, we know that and so does Max Verstappen. So I think that goes very well together".
