Lando Norris and McLaren have both been nominated for awards at the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards 2026. It comes after a stunning 2025 season saw the Brit win his maiden World Championship, while McLaren made it back-to-back Constructors' Championships in a dominant campaign.
Norris will be fighting for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year award, while McLaren will look to take home the Laureus World Team of the Year award.

Norris following in Verstappen's footsteps
After a disappointing end to the 2024 season that ended his world title chances, Norris responded in 2025 with seven wins and 18 podiums in an impressive year.
The thrilling 2025 season did go down to the final race of the year in Abu Dhabi, but Norris' third-place finish was all he needed to pip Max Verstappen by two points and win the World Championship.
Now, the 25-year-old follows in the Dutchman’s footsteps after being nominated for the breakthrough award, just as Verstappen was in 2016.
Along with Norris and McLaren, 2025 MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez was also nominated for this year's ceremony, which will take place in Madrid.
Footballer Ousmane Dembele, athletics star Mondo Duplantis, cyclist Tadej Pogacar, and tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will go up against Marquez for the big prize.
