Lando Norris is the F1 world champion for the first time in his career.
The British driver had to finish at least third to secure the drivers' title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and he did just that.
After the Dutch Grand Prix, the McLaren driver trailed his teammate Piastri by 34 points in the standings, but after a sublime final part of the season and after the Australian made multiple mistakes, he managed to overturn that deficit to be crowned as Formula 1 world champion for the first time in his career.

For the first time in four years, Verstappen will no longer be the defending world champion despite his amazing comeback after the summer break, and, once again, a British driver is back on top.
Norris is now also the first McLaren driver to win the title since Lewis Hamilton did so back in 2008, and it is the first time the Woking-based team complete the drivers' and constructors' title double since 1998.
Norris is now the eighth driver to win the title with McLaren, following the footsteps of Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, and Hamilton.
