Lando Norris has admitted that he "would do things differently in Miami" in battling Max Verstappen as the drivers' championship heats up coming into the Spanish Grand Prix. In the first of three American races this season, the McLaren driver started right behind the Dutchman, looking for a move down into turn 1.
However, the Brit fell down to P6 after being forced out wide by Verstappen,
with the move branded as "not very smart" by Norris afterwards.
Norris now sits just three points behind teammate and championship leader Oscar Piastri in the championship
However, after taking a fine pole position in Monaco and converting that into his second race win of the season, the 25-year-old comes into Barcelona with renewed confidence, believing more could have been done against Verstappen in Florida.
"Honestly, I think it's pretty obvious, I think it's fairly simple. I think I've made it clear on where my struggles have been, the things I found a little bit more difficult, especially this season compared to previous ones," Norris said when asked what he has done right so far, and what can be improved in 2025.
"To put it simply, the Saturdays have been the ones that have just had a lot more ups and downs. My Sundays, 95% of the races this season, I've been pretty happy with. Of course, there are still some races that have not gone perfectly well.
"If I look back on Miami and things like that, if I could redo things, of course, I would do some things differently, but some things just go the way they do, and my Sundays, I've been very happy with this season," continued Norris.
Sundays have been so positive for Norris and McLaren, in fact, that there has been little to no talk about them so far this campaign.
"I've barely had to speak to the team about them. I'm always very confident going into Sundays, and I have been this whole season. It's tweaking little things, and that is more just about the position that I start the race. That's been the biggest thing.
"But, again, like I said before Monaco, it's the area I've been working on the most. It's the one I'm putting the most time and effort into, because it's the one that allows me to win races or not," concluded Norris.
