Red Bull Racing sign Aston Martin engineer Tom McCullough

Red Bull Racing have signed Tom McCullough as the team's Head of Racing, replacing McLaren-bound Gianpiero Lambiase.

McCullough's move to Red Bull brings more than a decade of Formula 1 experience to the Milton Keynes squad and represents another significant addition as the team reshapes its senior engineering structure.

The 51-year-old has been part of the Aston Martin organisation since 2014, when the team was competing as Force India. He remained with the squad through its transformation into Racing Point before becoming part of Aston Martin's Formula 1 operation.

During his time with the team, McCullough held a number of important engineering positions and became closely associated with the team's trackside performance. He was appointed performance director and played a key role in maximising the performance of Aston Martin's cars throughout race weekends.

However, a management restructure at the beginning of 2025 saw McCullough move away from Aston Martin's Formula 1 programme and into a leadership position within Aston Martin Performance Technologies, where he was tasked with helping expand the organisation's involvement across other racing categories.

His decision to leave Aston Martin at the conclusion of the 2026 season was confirmed earlier this year, bringing an end to a lengthy association with the Silverstone-based organisation.

Red Bull have now secured McCullough's services as they prepare for a major change within their own engineering ranks. He is expected to take on a senior trackside role, with reports identifying him as the successor to Lambiase in overseeing Red Bull's race engineering operation.

Lambiase has been an integral member of Red Bull's Formula 1 operation for more than a decade, most famously working alongside Max Verstappen during the Dutchman's hugely successful career with the team. His eventual move to McLaren means Red Bull have been required to find an experienced replacement.

McCullough's extensive experience makes him a natural choice. Before joining Force India, he worked at Williams and Sauber, gaining experience as both a data and race engineer. His career has included working with drivers including Nico Hulkenberg, Rubens Barrichello and Bruno Senna.

The move will see McCullough return to a prominent Formula 1 trackside position at a crucial period for Red Bull, who are continuing to build their organisation around the new generation of regulations and their Red Bull Ford power-unit project.
