According to Oscar Piastri, the drivers can make the difference in many ways in the 2026 Formula 1 season.
"There's going to be a lot of things as drivers to get used to. A lot of things that we would have never had to have done in a race car before."- Oscar Piastri
This year, a new set of regulations will come into effect in Formula 1. There will be new power units, chassis, and many believe it will bring a new way of racing as well.
Piastri believes individual drivers will be able to make the difference this season.
Speaking to FOX Sports at The Ashes, the Australian was asked about his experience in the simulator.

He explained: "To look at, there will be some subtle differences. But I think, it is still going to look like an F1 car, but the engines are going to be different. A lot more electrical power versus the combustion engine, and there's going to be a lot of things as drivers to get used to.

"A lot of things that we would have never had to have done in a race car before in terms of managing that battery power more. There's going to be a lot of points where you can make the difference as a driver, which I think for the fans should exciting," Piastri added, hoping that McLaren will be one of the teams to create the best car under the new rules.
The previous season, the Australian competed in his first F1 title battle and finished third in the standings after leading for the majority of the campaign.
