Red Bull Racing team boss Laurent Mekies does not doubt Max Verstappen's motivation despite the Dutchman's criticism of the current F1 regulations. In Japan, Verstappen himself was asked about his motivation. The four-time world champion said cynically: "No, no, it's a valid question. Every day I wake up I convince myself again and I try." Instead of coffee, he also has an alternative. "Yeah, well, Red Bull. Red Bull keeps me going."
Mekies was also asked about the matter in Suzuka. "So we certainly focus on the competitive picture. Yes, that's what we do. We are having zero discussions about the other aspects. I will come to the regulations in a second. So we have a lot of work to do," the Frenchman began.
Mekies on how to make Verstappen happier
The team boss continued: "I'm sure by the time we give him a fast car, he will be a much happier Max. And by the time we give him a car he can push and make the difference with, he will also have a happier Max. So honestly, that's 100% of our discussions.
"As per the regulations, as you know, they are coming with some good aspects and more tricky aspects, and as of sports with the other teams we will meet in the break to see how we can tweak them to make them better."
