Helmut Marko commented on the news of Christian Horner’s dismissal, also revealing more details about the day and manner in which the former team principal was informed. On a day marked once again by highs and lows for Red Bull, Helmut Marko has finally broken his silence on the news of Christian Horner’s dismissal, delving deeper into what happened and how the news was communicated to the now-former team principal of the Milton Keynes outfit.
Horner informed on Tuesday after the British GP
"The decision was made by Oliver Mintzlaff. We told Christian Horner about this on Tuesday in London after the Silverstone race, and at the same time we officially thanked him for these 20 years, for these eight world championship titles,'' he commented via Sky Deutschland on the matter.
For Marko, one of the main reasons that led to the split is the overall drop in the team's performance in recent times: ''That was a consequence of various things, but above all the performance was not quite as good.''
The Austrian, however, expressed satisfaction with the arrival of
Laurent Mekies, who made his official debut at the Red Bull pit wall this weekend:
''Fortunately, we then brought Laurent Mekies from the family. He will be much more reduced in his area of responsibility, the main focus will be racing."Laurent Mekies, when asked about the same issue, also provided some additional details on the reasons behind the switch at the helm of the Milton Keynes team.
