Helmut Marko has pointed to the successes achieved alongside Max Verstappen as the biggest accomplishments of his long Red Bull Racing career.
“Actually, everything Max has achieved… That he beat Lewis Hamilton in 2021.”

The 82-year-old, who recently departed the Milton Keynes-based outfit, referenced the multiple world championships Verstappen won, beginning with the dramatic triumph in 2021, as part of his proudest achievement.
“Actually, everything Max has achieved. That he was able to become world champion multiple times in not the best car. That he beat Lewis Hamilton in 2021,” Marko said via De Limburger.
The Austrian continued by highlighting the benchmark 2023 season Verstappen recorded, achieving the most wins in a single campaign among others. Marko also added the Dutch driver’s debut victory at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix to his list of achievements.

“That we achieved the most wins in a single season in 2023. That Max performed immediately and won his first race after I put him in the Red Bull. There are so many. As Max and I said on the phone, we never could have dreamed we would achieve this together,” he concluded.
Alongside Marko among the Red Bull team’s hierarchy, Verstappen developed from a young talent in 2015 into the most successful driver in the history of the Red Bull team so far. The recently concluded season also saw him rack up eight race victories in a campaign where he narrowly missed out on the drivers’ championship.

Marko pins Verstappen’s title loss on Horner

The former driver advisor stressed that if the team had sacked the 52-year-old earlier, a fifth consecutive title for Verstappen would have been achieved.
Horner witnessed his over two-decade stint at the Red Bull outfit brought to an end days following the 2025 British Grand Prix.
