On Thursday it was revealed that Red Bull Racing is taking over five staff from Mercedes. According to advisor Helmut Marko, they are not coming because of financial reasons.

Mercedes did not want to lose staff

Red Bull is taking on five staff members from Mercedes to work on the Red Bull Powertrains in Milton Keynes. According to Marko, Mercedes did everything they could to keep the five employees. But despite high salaries, the staff chose to join Red Bull.
"Red Bull is a passionate racing team. It's all in one house. Mercedes offers people who come to us double the salary if they stay," Marko said in conversation with Motorsport-Magazin.com.

Wolff would spread nonsense

Toto Wolff, for his part, is said to have deliberately said that Red Bull would join forces with the Volkswagen Group, allowing them to make use of Honda's intellectual property. Marko says he is annoyed by the action: "These are all things that make you have to phone Japan for another hour to clarify." According to the 78-year-old Austrian, there is also no truth to Wolff's claim.
