Magnussen and Haas prove critics wrong

All critics have been silenced for a while. It was said that Haas would soon be behind the competition because the team would not bring updates for the car until France. With two cars in the top ten in qualifying, that didn't come true.

Mick Schumacher will start from tenth in Barcelona on Sunday, and teammate Kevin Magnussen will start from the eighth position. The latter was therefore satisfied, he indicated to Viaplay. "It proves that the car is really very good this weekend," said the Dane. "Not that it hasn’t been. But there has been a lot of talks and of course, we have been looking to the other teams that brought upgrades here. It seems they did not gain that much. We seemed to find a little bit this weekend, so very pleased with that."

Magnussen realized after qualifying that there might have been even more in it. A DRS problem meant that his Haas was not functioning optimally. "We had a DRS issue, all the way through qualifying. So it opens sometimes and not immediately. Only after many tries. That surely cost some lap time. How much, I don’t know."

The differences in the midfield were small. "But it has been close from my P8 to P6. It’s less than two tenths. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow."
