It is finally here the 2019
Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix! The final race before the summer break will be led out by
Max Verstappen for the first time but will he hold his lead into the first corner? Will
Mercedes hunt him down successfully? Or will
Ferrari fight back?
Qualifying recap
Max Verstappen stormed to pole on Saturday topping the first and most importantly the last session to claim pole from
Valtteri Bottas by 0.018s. It had looked like
Lewis Hamilton would at least be Verstappen's nearest but the five-time World Champion could only manage third after topping Q2.
Ferrari had yet another underwhelming day as
Charles Leclerc survived crashing his car into the barriers and damaging his rear wing to qualify fourth.
Sebastian Vettel will have to settle with fifth on the starting grid, a disappointing day after his surging race in Germany.
McLaren once again dominated the midfield battle as
Lando Norris and
Carlos Sainz qualified seventh and eighth respectively. However,
Daniel Ricciardo's midfield aspirations were dealt a blow after a bizarre incident with
Sergio Perez caused him to qualify 18th for the race. It was better news for
George Russell who will start in 15th for
Williams.
