Lewis Hamilton is predicting yet another boring race on Sunday. After just two practice sessions, the Brit says it's so hard to follow cars on the Sochi track that we shouldn't expect a great race. Bring on 2019 already Lewis...
The Mercedes man leads the championship by 37-points and by our reckoning a boring race is likely to play into his hands. Hamilton as said this before this season and turned out to be wrong.
“As soon as you get within a few seconds of another car it’s pretty difficult to even get close,” he told RaceFans.
“Even with a tyre difference. I was trying to catch someone that was on soft tyres and I was on hypers. That’s the bad thing about this track, unfortunately. I don’t really know what they can to do make it better.”
As if his predictions couldn't get any worse, the four-time world champion has already concluded that tyre strategy won't create many opportunities for exciting racing either.
“Unfortunately it’s most likely going to be something like a one-stop race which means it’s going to be boring for the fans,” he added.
“Immediately I already know it’s going to be boring because it’s so hard to follow.”
Hamilton blames the degradation for this as teams try to manage it to avoid the second stop.
At least this afternoon's qualifying session might have more interest.
