Nicholas Latifi was very confused when he returned to the pitlane after the race. The driver saw a partying Pierre Gasly but missed the Mercedes on the podium. The Canadian was shocked to find that there were no Silver Arrows on the podium at all.
Latifi matched his best result in his early Formula 1 career on Sunday. The Williams driver managed to finish P11 in the crazy Italian Grand Prix. Once back in the pitlane after the race, he saw a cheering Gasly. "I thought: Oh, he made it to the podium, well done", says Latifi at Formel1.de.

Looking for Mercedes

To see the results Latifi went looking for the Mercedes that would have taken the win. "Then I see that there is no Mercedes second or third. So yes, the race was certainly much more exciting than I had thought."
"I love to have races like this from time to time", Latifi explained. In Sunday's crazy race, the podium consisted of Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll. Three drivers who are normally in midfield.
