After Robert Kubica failed to turn the fortunes of Williams, the constructor have turned to Nicholas Latifi. The Canadian has admitted his debut F1 season won't be plain sailing but backs his team to bounce back from a tough couple of years.
Latifi led the early stages of the 2019 Formula 2 season but eventually finished second in the Drivers' Championship as Nyck de Vries pulled through. However, Latifi was the one to earn an F1 gig, as he joined Williams, replacing Robert Kubica for 2020.
The team scored only one point last season but Latifi backed his new team to bounce back despite admitting it will be a tough debut season.
“Coming to Formula 1 as a rookie is always difficult, but I will be joining a great team for my first year. I know they have a long history in training young drivers and they are one of the most successful teams in Formula 1," Latifi told Crash.net.
"I think two bad years don't define a team.

“I have complete faith in everyone on the team. I have seen what they are working on, we are going to solve the current problems and hopefully, we will come back this season as a competitive team"
