Jos Verstappen has lashed out hard at Martin Brundle, the former Formula 1 driver who is now an analyst at Sky Sports. Max Verstappen’s father calls Brundle, known as a true gentleman, “an idiot.” Jos Verstappen is angry about a remark Brundle made during a broadcast on Sky Sports. Brundle was responding to the conversation that Verstappen’s manager had with McLaren, and thus, the possibility that the four-time world champion might leave
Red Bull Racing. That is precisely the team Verstappen had tried to bend entirely to his will.
“What if he wants to leave Red Bull?” Brundle asked out loud.

The former
F1 driver then said:
“My god. Team Verstappen wanted to blow up Red Bull’s management at the time, didn’t they? They certainly went about it very thoroughly. It started with Christian Horner, and then they went straight on to Adrian Newey, Helmut Marko, Jonathan Wheatley, etc. And by now we know that Paul Monaghan is also leaving. So I think Team Verstappen did a bit too good a job of clearing some people out of the way at Red Bull,” said the British analyst.
Jos Verstappen—present in Silverstone this weekend to support his son—also saw Brundle’s statements come by. He responded online with the remark: “Another idiot who thinks he knows what it’s like.”
Verstappen more often at odds with ex-drivers
Lately it has become commonplace for Verstappen senior to lash out at analysts who, in his view, do not speak the truth. For instance, the Dutch ex-driver was recently angry with Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya. In Verstappen’s eyes, it is incomprehensible that international media give these ex-drivers a platform. In Montoya’s case, Jos Verstappen did not understand that the Colombian was allowed to voice criticism on the official Formula 1 channel.
