After an impressive lap by Max Verstappen, the Dutchman will start from pole position at the Miami Grand Prix. Lando Norris is set to line up alongside the Dutchman. Red Bull team principal looked ahead to the possible battle into Turn 1. In Jeddah, it was also Verstappen who claimed pole position, with a McLaren alongside, Oscar Piastri. The Australian dove down the inside the of the Red Bull driver, who as a result cut the corner.
Verstappen received a five-second penalty for the incident, and finished only in second place. During the Sprint, Piastri completed the same move on Antonelli, and after the Italian ran wide, he took the lead.
On Sunday, once again a McLaren driver will start from second place, however, it will be Norris.
"The rules of engagement are pretty clear. It's a race to the apex and as long as you have a nose or wing mirror ahead, they are the rules the drivers have agreed with the FIA," Horner looked ahead to the start talking to Sky Sports.
"Everybody is playing to that now. The most important thing is get a good start and you don't have to worry about placing your car."
Can Verstappen win in Miami?
For the Dutchman, it will be important to gain points on his championship rivals Norris and Piastri, after an unsafe release from the Red Bull pit crew earned him a ten-second penalty and 0 points in the Sprint. Currently, the Verstappen trails Piastri by 19 points in the standings.
"Let's see what the weather does. Maybe we are running a little heavier on downforce than the other guys because we are quick in that first sector, than bleed time in Sectors 2 and 3 with that long straight," Horner explained.
The team principal added: "But track position is so important and holding track position is even more important."
