Christian Horner stood on the podium to celebrate with Sergio Perez who won his very first Monaco Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing team boss was very pleased with how his team performed and capitalised on a strategic blunder for Ferrari and Charles Leclerc.
Ferrari opted to double stack their drivers when the time came to switch to the dry tyres. This cost Leclerc a position to his teammate immediately, and then he also lost out to both Red Bull drivers. Horner acknowledges his team's work on the strategic front whilst admitting they didn't have the quickest car in Monaco.
"We didn't want to be exposed at the restart. We believed the medium would be enough. The lock-up for Checo put him under pressure but he managed it. Proud of him, he's been on fire all weekend. We didn't have the quickest car, but we got it right. It was all about getting the in lap and out lap. Checo nailed the out lap, Max nearly got him as well. Phenomenal team result," Horner told Sky Sports after the race.

The Championship

Max Verstappen's jump on Leclerc allowed the Dutchman to extend his World Championship lead. Red Bull also gained in the constructors' standings with both drivers on the podium.
