Honda could be very satisfied during the qualifying of the
Brazilian Grand Prix. While
Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez finished second and fourth, AlphaTauri with
Pierre Gasly and
Yuki Tsunoda set the fifth and thirteenth fastest times.
Toyoharu Tanabe was very pleased with the qualifying.
Prior to the race weekend Verstappen seemed to have the best chances to win the GP, but during the first day in Brazil
Lewis Hamilton made a better impression. The Brit changed his combustion engine and he seemed to get a big advantage out of that.
"It was a decent start to the weekend for us, with three drivers qualifying in the top five: Max second, Checo fourth and Pierre fifth," judged Tanabe
on the official Honda website.
"On his first visit to Interlagos, Yuki unfortunately did not make the cut to Q3 and starts 13th. However, he has shown good pace in practice and in qualifying." Honda hopes to perform in Brazil
Tanabe therefore thinks it will be an exciting sprint race. "We can expect it to be very close once again with our main title rivals in both the short and the long races and we will be doing our best to get another good result here in Brazil."
