Pierre Gasly suffered an unusual crash during the closing stages of FP2 at the Belgian Grand Prix, sliding sideways into the barriers and bringing his Alpine session to an early end.
The Frenchman suffered a snap of oversteer on the exit of Les Fagnes, dropping his wheels onto the gravel and failing to recover his A526 in time. He struck the barriers sideways with the rear wing, spun through 360 degrees and rejoined the track without it before coming to a halt a few metres later.
The incident brought out the second red flag of the session. Earlier on, the opening minutes had already been interrupted after gravel was dragged onto the circuit, forcing marshals to halt the session to clear the track.
