Kimi Antonelli stole the spotlight as FP2 at the Belgian Grand Prix came to a close, setting the fastest time of the day ahead of Lando Norris. Below is the full session report. Antonelli lays down marker to Russell in Belgian GP FP2
The session was interrupted by two red flags. The first came just a few minutes after the start when several drivers dragged gravel onto the circuit, forcing marshals to clear the track. The second was triggered by an unusual crash for Pierre Gasly, who ended up in the barriers sideways, with his Alpine A526 coming to a halt missing its rear wing.
As for the times, the championship leader topped the session with a 1:45.944, the only driver to break into the 1:45s. Lando Norris was the only one able to stay within touching distance of the pace.
Max Verstappen finished third after setting the fastest time in the morning session. Despite reporting
unusual gearbox issues over team radio, the Dutchman still ended the afternoon in a strong position.
Lewis Hamilton claimed fourth place, with Isack Hadjar completing the top five. George Russell, meanwhile, endured a difficult session, finishing only eighth and ending up more than a second slower than his teammate. Charles Leclerc also struggled for pace, ending the session outside the top 10 in 11th.
It was another encouraging session for Racing Bulls, with Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson securing places inside the top 10. Aston Martin, meanwhile, endured another difficult outing, with both drivers finishing more than five seconds off the pace.
