Toro Rosso driver
Brendon Hartley aims for a reaction in Singapore following two disappointing performaces at Spa and Monza...
Hartley, whose future looks under serious doubt at Toro Rosso, hasn't completed a race since the summer break ending.
The Kiwi expects another tough race in Singapore, but one that offers more possibilities for the struggling driver.
"Singapore is a new circuit for me and it's one I'm looking forward to, and all drivers have told me that it's the most physical race on the calendar the crowds, the heat and the humidity," Hartley explained.
"I have drove a lot of night races; for example, Le Mans, but with the artificial light it will be less noticeable.
"Historically, Toro Rosso is often doing well here, and we knew the last two races were tough, but everyone on the team sees this as a good chance. Last week, I tested the track in the simulator, both for myself and for the team. So I could get to know every bump of the circuit, while the team can test many changes to the setup before we arrive in Singapore.
"It is not quite the same as driving on the circuit itself, because it is not so hot and you miss the forces on your body," the Kiwi added. "It's perfect to prepare because you're making optical markers for yourself and you have an idea where you're going, I feel fit and healthy, which can bring you an advantage on Sunday evening. I'm really looking forward to the weekend."
